James Hicks

Welcome! I am an Academic Fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law and Business, and a Ph.D. Candidate in the Jurisprudence and Social Policy program, where I trained in social science, law and economics, and statistics. I also hold a J.D. from Berkeley Law.

My research focuses on the theory and policy of innovation law. In my dissertation, I develop new empirical approaches to classic questions in copyright and patent law. I also have teaching and research interests in property and corporate law, as well as empirical and computational legal studies.
